Virtual Design World Cup
"2nd Student BIM & VR Design Contest on Cloud"
-Compete on cloud for the most advanced architectural and civil engineering
design using BIM and VR!-
Theme 2012
"Sustainable Design of Marine City"
This contest is an international design competition for students to compete
amongst each other in designing innovative architecture, bridge and city
design using BIM&VR.
Every year students compete for the top price which is given to an outstanding
work outlining a predefined theme in the aspect of design, innovative idea,
and creativity. They plan and design their work based on the theme and
then run a simulation. Their final model will be presented to the judges
in a form of a script and evaluated.
To assist with the production, we plan to carry out workshops and seminars.
We will also support the students who will make use of software from now
on. Also you can communicate and collect a lot of information without visiting
local area by the exhibition of various workshop reviews through the Web
and the utilization of VR forum ( 3D cloud BBS ) The script of VR data
is required for the final submission and the judgment is performed on the
basis of "VR Cloud judgment". We would like you to use forum8's
BIM software and VR and think our company as a place which will make your
technology and production developed. |

Theme2012: "Sustainable Design of Marine City"
Sometimes you need to go against the tide to seek for a safer dwelling.
Now is the perfect time. To overcome threats from tsunamis and other disasters,
we set the task to explore the possibilities to live on the sea in a safe
and secure sustainable "Marine City". Using Tokyo, Osaka (Kobe)
and Fukuoka as the subject areas, design a proposal for a man-made island
with recreational and residential functionalities in VR.
In a country like Japan, instead of opening up the forests and mountains,
the best solution could be to develop onto the sea. Today, urban areas
are more or less shrinking; therefore we tend to think that developing
onto the sea is a bad thing. In this contest, students must challenge themselves
to justify the development on the sea with the concept called sustainability.
Keeping "biodiversity" as the keyword, aim to create new nature
through artificial islands. Specifically, the issues to consider in the
proposal are how to decide the location and the shape of the island, how
to place roads, how to access the island, its self-sufficiency and the
procurement of electricity, water and other infrastructure. |
|
|
The areas shown in the VR model provided by FORUM8. The examples of main
areas are the following.
Tokyo
Region: Area surrounded by Tokyo Big Site, Tokyo Disney Land, and Makuhari
Messe
Tokyo Sky Tree and tall buildings around Tokyo station can be seen in the
distance and Aqua Line can be seen in the south. |
|
Kobe/Osaka
Region: Osaka Bay surrounded by Wada Misaki, Kobe airport, and Kurisaki
Universal Studio)
Mt. Rokko and Awaji Island can be seen in the distance. |
|
Fukuoka
Region: Area surrounded by Mt. Mouko, Kyushu University, vicinity of the
Hakata station, Momochi, and Fukuoka Airport
Genkai island, Shiga island and Nokono island are dispersed in the distance. |
